Shadow betrays

I never saw your face,
You always turned back
And kept your eyes away from me.

You remained silhouetted
in the silver rays of light.
Obscure as if you are from a mirage
And what all I saw is just a shadow

I craved to stare into
your real face
Just to make me sure that
you are not just a futile fantasy

I stretched my hands
To measure the distance between us
but again your shadow betrayed me
As I moved one step towards
You moved one step away

…and shadows,
Hollow like an empty shell
always scanty
and of course like u
with your heart always flinty
left without any definition

Now let me too to turn back
To leave my shadow back
Let it get dried into oblivion

So now what all left is
a gust of the wind-passing by
a whisper in my ears –echoing
and a few drops of unshed tears……
